System performance standards are the primary consideration as they reflect the overall performance of a typical installation. While panel-specific standards, such as concentrated load ratings, are commonly used to specify floor systems, they do not accurately represent real-world performance. This is because testing is conducted on individual panel test blocks rather than the complete installed system, including its foundation structure.
Type | Specification | Concentrated Load | Safety Factor | Impact Load | Ultimate Load | Uniform Load | Rolling load | Standard | Fire Protection
International | mm | N | (min.2.0) | N | N | (N/M⊃2;) | 10times | 10000times
SC800 | 500*500/600*600 | ≥3550 | Pass | 536 | ≥11250 | 16100 | 3560 | 2670 | ClSCA | A1 |
SC1000 | 500*500/600*600 | ≥4450 | Pass | 670 | ≥13350 | 23000 | 4450 | 3560 | ClSCA | A1 |
Except for the design load, the tests were conducted using the CISCA recommended test procedure for access floors.
1. The design load is tested using the CISCA concentrated load test method on the actual substructure rather than the steel block. The design load is determined by the smaller of the ultimate load divided by two or the point where permanent damage begins to occur (yield point).
2. The safety factor is the multiple of the design load and the ultimate load. International standards recommend a minimum of 2.
What is MgSO4 Raised Floor?
Magnesium oxide raised flooring is a durable and versatile flooring system made from high-density magnesium oxide encapsulated in a protective steel shell, often galvanized. This system is designed to provide exceptional strength, fire resistance, and durability, making it suitable for various commercial, industrial, and data center applications. The magnesium oxide material is naturally fire-resistant, offering enhanced protection in areas that require stringent fire safety standards. Additionally, the steel encapsulation protects the magnesium oxide from corrosion, ensuring longevity even in humid or chemically challenging environments. The flooring system is also known for its excellent sound insulation properties, making it ideal for spaces that require noise reduction, such as office buildings and server rooms. The modular design allows for easy installation, maintenance, and upgrades, with panels that can be quickly removed or replaced. This flexibility makes it especially useful in environments where infrastructure changes are frequent. Furthermore, magnesium oxide is an environmentally friendly material, contributing to sustainable building practices. With its combination of strength, safety, and sustainability, magnesium oxide raised flooring is becoming an increasingly popular choice for modern commercial and industrial spaces.
The production of MgSO₄ Encapsulated Raised Access Floor involves mixing magnesium sulfate (MgSO₄), magnesium oxide (MgO), reinforcing fibers, and additives to form a durable, fire-resistant core. The core is molded, compressed, dried, and hardened before being encapsulated with galvanized steel or aluminum foil for enhanced strength and moisture resistance. Panels undergo strict quality testing for load capacity, fire resistance, and moisture protection before being packaged and shipped. This flooring offers high strength, fireproofing, and eco-friendly benefits.
A1 and ASTM E136 Non-combustible Building Boards
BULUMgSO4 Panels are ideal for a wide range of fire protection solutions. Classified as A1 (non-combustible) materials according to European standard EN 13501-1, these boards do not contribute to fire propagation, providing enhanced fire safety in building applications.
The formulation of BULUMgSO4 Panels is designed to minimize organic content, ensuring they easily pass fireproof tests such as EN 13501-1:2007 and ASTM E 84-12 with excellent results. This low organic content contributes to their high fire resistance and non-combustibility.
For non-combustibility, building regulations define materials as non-combustible if they pass the BS 476: Part 4: 1970 fire test requirements. Additionally, materials classified as A1 under BS EN 13501-1:2002—Fire classification of construction products—are considered non-combustible. These classifications use test data from BS EN ISO 1182:2002—Non-combustibility testing, and BS EN ISO 1716:2002—Determination of gross calorific value.
BULUMgSO4 Panels also meet ASTM E136 non-combustibility standards. The ASTM E136 test, conducted using a vertical tube furnace at 750°C, evaluates material combustibility based on the 2012, 2015, and 2018 IBC model codes. This certification confirms the boards' exceptional fire resistance, making them suitable for applications where fire safety is critical.
Encapsulated calcium sulfate raised floors are extremely durable and long-lasting, able to withstand heavy loads and foot traffic. This is especially important in commercial office buildings where large numbers of people may move across the floor each day. The polymer material has excellent compressive strength.
BULU encapsulated magnesium oxide raised floor panels weigh 12-13kg, significantly lighter than most other panels, which typically weigh 15kg or more. This lighter weight makes the panels easier for workers to transport and install, improving efficiency on-site. Additionally, because the panels are lighter, more units can be packed into a single shipping container, maximizing space and reducing sea freight costs. This combination of easier installation and cost savings on shipping makes our raised floor solution both practical and cost-effective for our clients.
Improved Acoustic Performance
Encapsulated calcium sulfate raised floors help improve the acoustic performance of a building, reducing noise transmission between floors and improving overall sound insulation. This is especially important in commercial buildings, where privacy and confidentiality may be required, or a quiet working environment is desired.
Enhanced Flexibility and Adaptability
Raised floor systems are designed to be highly flexible and adaptable, making it easier to reconfigure the layout of a space or install new equipment and services. This is especially important for commercial office buildings, where businesses may need to quickly adapt to changing market conditions or new technologies.
